1882-S VAM-24 Doubled Date

Discovered by Martin Field, December 1978; Revised 2012.
24 (revised) III2 19- C3a (Doubled Date) (187) I-2 R-3
Obverse III2 19 - Doubled date with 1 doubled slightly on surface at top right of shaft, left 8 on right outside and slightly on lower left inside of upper loop, right 8 doubled on left outside of both loops, and 2 on right outside of upper loop. Early die states have curved polishing lines from top of cap fold thru left U in UNUM. Later die states have die chips between loops on right side. Vertical die scratch at back of cap fold.
Reverse C3a - Mint mark centered and upright.
