1882-S VAM-18 Doubled Date, S Tilted Left
Discovered by Oscar Simpson, March 1977. Revision 2010.
18 (revised) III2 13 - C3b (Doubled Date, S Tilted Left) (186) I-2 R-4
Obverse III2 13- 1 doubled on right side of shaft. First 8 strongly doubled on left inside and right outside of both loops. Second 8 doubled strongly at very top and left outside of top loop and is doubled slightly at bottom left outside and top right outside of lower loop. 2 doubled at top and right outside of upper loop and on right side of bottom serif.
Reverse C3b- Medium mint mark filled and tilted left. Early die state shows fine die polishing lines in fields.
Comments:This obverse shared with VAM-14 and VAM-18
V18 has the later polished die state reverse in the v18/v34 marriages
