1882 is one of the common dates, but becomes a little less common in high grades. Typically sharply detailed, luster can vary from flashy to indifferent. Prooflike coins are available, but are not as common as they are for other dates. Of the many VAMs cataloged for this date, none would be considered highly interesting. As with all mints for 1882, there can be strong doubling on the date digits, as well as "extra metal," and this is the first place to look when attributing. There are also a few varieties listed with possible digits in the denticles.
