The Mid/late states (Former VAM 1A or "Dot 2") of this variety are far easier to locate. The early state that exhibits the 5 distinct gouges has proven to be quite rare. Obverse III2 27 - Small raised dot on 2 surface in middle of the bottom crossbar. Possible top of 8 showing in denticle space between 8's as sharply curved bar. Five sharp top raised curved gouges at denticles 1 & 2 left stars. Ear slightly doubled at right inside on LDS.
Die marker -' Tiny die chip at top of E in LIBERTY.
