6(revised) III2 2 · C3e (Closed 2, O Tilted Left, Doubled Reeding) (181) I-2 R-4
Obverse III2 2- Closed 2.
Reverse C3e– II O mint mark tilted left. Some have a heavy horizontal die scratch at bottom of opening.
Edge– Doubled reeding at 9 o’clock but not overlapping or merging.
This reverse shared with VAM-6, VAM-16, VAM-17, VAM-17A, VAM-17B, VAM-27, VAM-28, VAM-39, and VAM-47.
Comments: Note that VAM-6 was the original catalogued designation of VAM-3 EDS, then called "O/S Line". The current listed VAM-6, here, is not an O/S variety. However, there may be very old VAM-6 attributions that are indeed VAM-3. Since VAM numbers are assigned by die classification, and not just by die pairing, multiple die pairings may exist.
