1881-S VAM-1B Die Chip on Wing
Discovered by George Powell, April 2001.
This coin is a WOW! Morgan VAM.
1B III21 · C3a (Die Chip on Wing) (185) I-2 R-6
Reverse C3a– Large die chip on edge of eagle’s right wing just above wreath top.
Comments: Apparently this reverse feature occurs during the late die stage of VAM 67. Saw examples of VAM 67 with and without this distinctive break. It's unclear if all VAM 1B's share the same obverse. More research is needed - vampicker.
