1880-S VAM-22 Doubled 880
Discovered by Bill Fivaz, July 1973.
22(revised) III2 14 - C3c (Doubled 880) (188) I-2 R-3
Obverse III2 14 – 880 doubled in date. Left 8 slightly doubled at top inside and right outside of lower loop. Right 8 top loop doubled at bottom outside of both sides and inside as a thin line at top and bottom. Doubled lower loop at top inside as a thin line. 0 doubled at top left and right sides and slightly at lower left inside.
Reverse C3c – Normal die of C3 type with very large centered mintmark tilted left.
Comments:
1. This obverse shared with VAM-21 and VAM-22.
2. This reverse shared with VAM-3, VAM-6, VAM-17, VAM-22, VAM-29, VAM-31, VAM-53, VAM-57, VAM-58, VAM-65, VAM-73, VAM-80, VAM-81, VAM-83,VAM-86, VAM-96.
3. Since VAM numbers are assigned by die classification, the shared reverses above are all C3c, very large S centered mint mark tilted left. All may not be the exact same die, but all fit the reverse die classification.
