1880-P VAM-33 Double Date

Discovered by Oscar Simpson, August 1978. Revised April 2019
33 (revised) III2 33 · C3a (Double Date) (180) I-2 R-4
Obverse III2 33 – Doubled date with 1 strongly at top of upper crossbar, left 8 doubled on surface at bottom right outside of lower loop, right 8 at left outside of upper loop, and 0 on left and right bottom outside.
Die marker - Several diagonal heavy polishing lines across IB in LIBERTY. Several die polsihing lines at cap fold.
Reverse C3a –
Die marker - Two polishing lines above We T of We Trust. Other reverse markers Die 1- Several heavy die scratches right wreath at olive branch. Long diagonal die polishing line at eagle's left shoulder. Die polishing lines wing-neck gap. Vertical die scratch thru ED of UNITED.

Comments:The earlier listing with the reverse marker of the lines above We trust may be an earlier stage or different die than VAM 33A reverse with line thru ED of UNITED
