1879-S VAM-16A Doubled 9, Gouge in Bow

16A (revised) III2 2e - C3x(Doubled 9, Gouge in Bow) (182) I-2 R-4
Obverse III2 2e – 9 in date doubled on left side. On some specimens 8 has a spike of metal on left side between loops. Open 9 variety.
Reverse C3x - Same reverse die as 65, 75 and 80 with acid treated lower right ribbon middle towards S mint mark, bow and some leaves in left wreath. Over Polished reverse with shallow peripheral letters and thin disconnected wreath leaves.
Obverse-III2 2e- Same obverse as VAM 34B, 57, 77, 77A, 83. Need confirmation of doubled 9.
Reverse C3x- Same reverse as VAMs 65, 75, and 80.
1- Later die state of VAM-16.
2- This obverse die was used on VAM-3, VAM-14, VAM-16, VAM-16A, VAM-16B and VAM-54
3- This reverse die was used on VAM-16A, VAM-65, VAM-75 and VAM-80
4- The Reverse Die use sequence is VAM-80, followed by VAM-65, then VAM-16A and lastly VAM-75.
