1879-S VAM-14 S/S Middle

Discovered by Guy Messing, June 1975.

Obverse III2 3 – 9 in date doubled on left side. On some specimens 8 has a spike of metal between loops. Open 9 variety.

Reverse C3e – IV S mint mark doubled at bottom of upper loop opening as thick slanted bar and in middle of lower loop opening as a curved line.

Comments:
1. Exact same obverse as vam 91 but of an earlier die
2. Note: you can see tripling inside upper loop of 8 left side
3. This obverse die was used on VAM-14, VAM-16, and VAM-54?.
