1879-S VAM-14 S/S Middle

Discovered by Guy Messing, June 1975.
14 III2 3 ∙ C3e (S/S Middle) (184) I-2 R-3
Obverse III2 3 – 9 in date doubled on left side. On some specimens 8 has a spike of metal on left side between loops. Open 9 variety.
Reverse C3e – IV S mint mark doubled at bottom of upper loop opening as thick slanted bar and in middle of lower loop opening as a curved line.
Comments:
1- This obverse die was used on VAM-3, VAM-14, VAM-16, VAM-16A, and VAM-54.
