1879-O VAM-30 Quadrupled Stars, Doubled Left Reverse

Discovered by Herb Zepke, April 2000.
30 III2 22 · C3i (Quadrupled Stars, Doubled Left Reverse) (176) I-4 R-6
Obverse III2 22 Quadrupled right stars and doubled to tripled left stars. US in PLURIBUS and UNUM slightly doubled at top towards rim. Die marker– Line thru denticle spaces below date.
Reverse C3i – Hub doubling of left reverse same as 1878 P C3b reverse with doubling of UNITED STATES bottom inside, I of In at top, top right edge of eagle’s right wing and left edge of some leaves in left wreath. II O mint mark set slightly high with slight tilt to right. Die marker– Thin line thru denticle spaces below DOLL.

1. This reverse shared with VAM-30 and VAM-33.
2. The line under the date and in the denticles is easier to see on the coin than it is in the photograph below.
