1878-S VAM-76 Tripled Eyelid, Acid Treated Wing Feathers

Obverse II 21– Eyelid slightly tripled in front of eye just below front of eyelid. Point of fourth right star broken. Die chip at mouth corner.
1878-S VAM-50 has the same obverse.
Reverse B2as– Smooth acid treated feather between eagle’s right wing and leg with some smooth acid treated bars in middle of eagle’s left wing and smooth patches between eagle's right wing and body, in eagle's right wing and to left and right of eagle's right leg. R in Trust not broken. Unusual acid treated smooth patches in wings and at eagle's leg.
Comments:
1- One of Four 1878-S varieties with very crudely engraved wing feather with granular surface, raised dots, and splotches.
Called "funky feathers," the crudest and most spectacular feathers of all the Morgan dies in the attribution guide, they have smooth surfaces and rough sides or smooth sides and rough surfaces: including this VAM-76 along with VAM-49, VAM-50 and VAM-81.
