1878-S VAM-52 Engraved Wing Feather, Worm-Eye Die Scratch

Discovered by Pete Bishal, December 1981.

Obverse II 1– Thin worm-like die scratch behind eye and two tiny die chips in hair bun. Same die as VAM-46
Reverse B2aj– Feather engraved between eagle’s right wing and leg. R in Trust broken. Vertical die scratch on eagle's right wing. Same die as VAM-79.

  1. The obverse die is a later die state of the VAM-46 obverse die with die cracks in the cap.
