1878-P VAM-130 Normal

Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, December 1965.
130 II1 - B2a (Normal) (194) I-1 R-2

1. This coin has the normal dies of 1878 WITHOUT the broken point of the fourth right star. Leroy Van Allen says there are multiple dies that are listed as the VAM 130 and ARE NOT VAMs 130A, B or C. This coin has no apparent die breaks or doubling except for slight doubling of the right side of the 7 which is a hub defect. There is also slight tripled to quadrupled number 2 to number 6 left stars. There is a reed count of 180.
additional comments: anyone holding a vam 130 plain should recheck vam against vam 131A the doubling at 7 on the vam 131A resembles the one pictured on this page!

The arrow points to the doubling on the top, right edge of the 7. The photo doesn't show how the doubling runs along the right edge to about the middle of the number. However, that is what you are looking for.
