Unc? Only in their dreams.
Constantly looking at 1921-D Morgans on eBay means I am constantly seeing... um... "liberal" grade claims by sellers of raw coins. Here are 9 that disgusted me this morning:
Advertised as AU/Unc:
Advertised as BU:

I'll hand it to the sellers... If someone (a buyer) is stupid enough to believe these grades, they are willing participants in an age-old reality:
NOTE: This is from a PCGS certified $100 that I'm selling... for the bargain price of $5299.99.
Oops, sorry, not supposed to post BST stuff here. My bad...

I've seen this practice on the Bay so much that (unfortunately) I'm not shocked anymore by these seller's egregious claims of their coins conditions.

Is this why it is called a "side-hustle"?
You say it everyday Dennis... "when in doubt, don't"

When it's no longer fun, I think I'm done!

I went round and round with a seller about a coin he called uncirculated. The coin in question and the seller's reply I will post later. The coin had graffiti scratched all over liberty's face. He basically didn't care what numismatic knowledge I or anyone else had. He said that he judged uncirculated because the way the rest of the coin looked. Why doesn't Ebay have someone that is knowledgeable scrutinize the subscriptions.

Maybe I am thinking of a different auction site, but I was thinking it was Ebay that planned to offer a (you pay for it) service to get their opinions of grade, counterfeit, etc. on listings on their site. ?? They say certified coins from some companies are covered... https://pages.ebay.com/buy/guides/grade ... sed%20coin.

Re: Unc? Only in their dreams.
But I take most Ebay personal seller grading with a grain of salt.... BU = beat up?

Re: Unc? Only in their dreams.
It’s been uncirculated ever since they took it out of circulation….. geez
Re: Unc? Only in their dreams.
Most of the these sellers I have dealt with are Coin Dealers on Ebay! Good thing they don't have a brick and mortar because their insurance company would drop them for all the broken window claims. Lmao

Joe Pesci says it best in the movie "Casino." " It's always about the dollars!"
Re: Unc? Only in their dreams.
Happy to report, too, that the PCGS $100 from me has sold. I'll just say that THAT picker knows a bargain when they sees one...
