IMO the CAC slab is both atrocious and unbelievably chintzy. Looks like the DIY slabs that have been circulating for decades on fleabay. I’m shocked and in utter disbelief that this is the slab they settled upon. This can’t be real. 😂🥴👌

Looks darnfine to these eyes. Elegant, no frills. Highlights the specimen.

Having a clear holder insert, and a label that doesn’t look like it was designed by my seven year old on Microsoft paint would be a decent start

I also think PC got the jump on everyone with QR codes and NFC technology. I’m guessing they got patents on that since I’m not seeing anyone else doing it. Outstanding ideas both of them.

CAC is going to need something to compete with that.

There's also plenty of room on that label to make the serial number a couple of point sizes bigger for easier reading.

Speaking of... what's with the goofy gap preceeding the last two digits in the serial number shown above?
When in doubt... don't.

Now that you mention it, the fonts do seem a bit small. & I wondered the same thing about the gap between the last two digits.

I can, in theory, see the need for the original CAC business model. I don’t necessarily see the need for another TPG.

The market will decide on this endeavor. For slab/plastic collectors, now is the time to get one.

I have issues with the design of their slab, but they're minor and will be worked out in time. The font is too narrow to be easily legible while walking by a table at a show. They should also choose a font that has Greek and Cyrillic sort l support if they are to ever do world coins. NFC verification is a must, but that may be locked down by PCGS IP. They do have the opportunity to make sure every slab that ever goes out has at least a mug shot in their database to make it easy to check counterfeit slabs. Coin number and grade shown with the bar code is superfluous information that could be one to make room for more useful information, especially if they do varieties and world coins. Construction of the slab cannot be ascertained from a rendering. As it is likely that the same artistic talent that brought us Beanman is likely involved in the label design, there is cause for concern on the artistic front.

My take is that competition benefits the consumer, making the competition work a little harder.
And that a major investment into a new company indicates a faith in the industry.

Curious if they will recognize and VAM to a greater degree than PCGS or NGC :?:

I’d be very surprised if they recognized anything but the biggest of VAMs. I would see it as an accomplishment if they even did the list coins.

Agreed. If nothing else, it will get the wait time for standard submission levels down at PCGS. It’s been so bad lately I grimace at thot of sending them anything other than a bulk order. By the grace of God bulk orders are still usually back in my hands in a month tops. The last standard submission I sent it took almost 4 months. 😳🥴
