OT 1920 S BUFFALO NICKEL NGCMS65
I haven't found any good vams for a LONG time.
I did how ever just buy this very well struck, nicely toned 1920 S NGCMS65, today.
It has the strongest details, that I have seen for awhile.
Enjoy, Bert

Re: OT 1920 S BUFFALO NICKEL NGCMS65
Wow! A '20-S in 65 is... wow!
Congrats!
Congrats!
When in doubt... don't.
Re: OT 1920 S BUFFALO NICKEL NGCMS65
I thought finding one in a straight UNC was tough. MS61 or 62 a bit more difficult (and expensive) but a 65? Yikes my friend. What a great coin!
Re: OT 1920 S BUFFALO NICKEL NGCMS65
Thank you Dennis and Keilg1, which I thought I had all of the names saved,
but I couldn't find yours, sorry!
I had been looking for a nice 1920 S, which seems like, some S mint marked
buffalo's have smooth or soft details.
When I saw the hair details, just above the braid and the strong details, in the
head and shoulder, of the buffalo's wool, on the reverse, I had to buy it, plus
some nice light toning.
Here are the seller's pictures of the obv and rev and my closeups of the braid
and hair above it and the head and shoulder wool details, on the buffalo.
My first pictures before of the obv and rev, were my attempts to show the toning,
but I only have my hand held digital camera.
To try and show some of the toning, I had to include the lights, around my digital
microscope.
I wish it was in a PCGS 'trueview' holder, so I would have their professionally taken
pictures.
Thank you, Bert

Re: OT 1920 S BUFFALO NICKEL NGCMS65
WOW! Thats a monster strike for an early s mint. To see one side. Fully strike is nice but both sides? That’s incredible.

Thank you Brian,
Sorry it took me so long to reply.
How have you been?
Man, I really miss talking to Ron.
He spent so much time helping me learn, about buffalo nickels and what to look for.
Bert
Here is another one, that when I saw it, I had to have and buy it.
My 1928 S PCGSMS65+, with Trueview pictures.

Wow... wonderful Buffalos!!
Re: OT 1920 S BUFFALO NICKEL NGCMS65
@bhinkle, for the love of god please stop torturing us... These are almost enought to divert some of my investment funds into nickels... Not that I'd have a problem with this, but my wife might have another say...

Thank you Gary and Windycity, is your name Pat?
I was and am hooked on finding nice vams over the years, but for some reason, I haven't found any for a LONG time.
I was lucky enough, to have met Ron Pope, a long time ago at a local coin shop and through Ron, is how I met Brian Raines.
Anyway Ron knew just about everything, about the buffalo nickels and he helped me learn and appreciate the beautifully designed coin and I started also collecting them.
At 79 now and living alone ( you can see I live alone, by the piles of papers on my desk) and lucky to be healthy (knock on wood), all I do is walk my three year old dog Sky, back into my woods and try and find some nice coins.
Here is my 1913 S T-2 only graded an NGCMS63, but has some beautiful colors and is very lustrous.
Enjoy, Bert
