1892-S Micro S MS 61/62

Post by Paugywoggy65 » Thu Oct 06, 2022 4:06 pm

I recently purchased this ungraded 1892-S with a Micro S Mint mark. Approximately MS61 62 grade.

I've not been able to find any other Micro S mint marks in the auction world other than the obvious 1903-S.

Looking to eventually sell through a premier auction house. Obviously it needs to be graded.

Any idea of value, if it's a one of a kind coin?

What are the steps I need to take to get it VAM recognized?

Preference between PCGS or NGC?
Preference in Auction house? I'm thinking Heritage.

Newbie. Any other things I need to be aware of.

My guess is it is a fake. Post some pictures for the experts here to evaluate.

The 'I' in UNITED doesn't look like a match to the 'I' in AMERICA? The Mint Mark doesn't look micro to me. The 'dot' between U S of PLURIBUS, is it raised?...kenny

Dot is raised like a nipple.
Under great magnicification, the I's match in style.

I attached a picture of a 1903-S Standard Size "S" that is above my picture of my coin.

There are dimple marks on the outer periphery of the coin on the reverse side between the E in United and O in One.

Sorry for wasting everyone's time.

I don't believe it's a Micro S.

Yes.
I was thinking AU53 details.
When in doubt... don't.
