This sold at a famous auction house eight years ago. Nice clean looking coin, now it is up at another house and it is tarnished. I don't say toned. I have long suspected that holders could "leak". That would mean that all those colorful coins people are paying premiums for will one day be BLACK.

Slabs are not impervious to gasses. This one may have spent some time in a hostile environment, maybe intentionally, maybe not.

Those are usually splotchier than this. It also looks like the basket prong at the top protected the coin from toning there.

Those older holders used "rivets" which, I don't believe are as tight as the newer holders.

I actually like it better ,
Such of a high grade coin,
With that toning
Though is not original
But artificial ,
All white just looks plain to me
