Oh là là , c'est magnifique!
Je pense que c'était un jeton de bordel à Paris.
(I think that this was a Parisian brothel token)

The stories that coin could tell...?
Re: Odd 8 TF
The seller I bought this from had a fairly large group of Paris brothel shell cards listed, but he said this one actually wasn't.. But 'the race for dollars' could refer to the oldest profession.

Re: Odd 8 TF
Is it silver and the same size as a Morgan?
Re: Odd 8 TF
Roughly the same size as a Morgan. It has a silver wash over brass. It's a shell card, so it's hollow

Idea of date?
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my.........Ahh........Uhmm........something, something, something.....

Re: Odd 8 TF
Is it still negotiable? Asking for a friend.
Re: Odd 8 TF
The auction listing said circa 1900.
I'm not sure about it being 'negotiable' I have no idea what the going rate is these days, but I'd still think it's higher in Paris.
If this actually is a brothel token, then there's a touch of irony about the piece. When the Morgan Dollar first came out, there were contemporary accounts comparing the portrait to a French hooker
