The seller I bought this from had a fairly large group of Paris brothel shell cards listed, but he said this one actually wasn't.. But 'the race for dollars' could refer to the oldest profession.

Is it silver and the same size as a Morgan?

Roughly the same size as a Morgan. It has a silver wash over brass. It's a shell card, so it's hollow

The auction listing said circa 1900.

I'm not sure about it being 'negotiable' I have no idea what the going rate is these days, but I'd still think it's higher in Paris.

If this actually is a brothel token, then there's a touch of irony about the piece. When the Morgan Dollar first came out, there were contemporary accounts comparing the portrait to a French hooker
