Help!! I’ve searched and searched
The two pictures are of my 1881 O. I can no figure this out on what it is or what marking. Any help will be amazing. I’ve searched coon facts, asked on forum pages and everything. Nobody has seen or can find this error or anything. What do I do? Send it out? Find a more knowledgeable person local to me(if any)? I feel like the few coin dealers near me are not the right type and are just in it for the money and not knowledge. Thanks for any info /help!

Re: Help!! I’ve searched and searched
Most likely PMD, almost appears like someone tried to simulate a Horizontal S over the O, maybe someone else has an idea. GL
Re: Help!! I’ve searched and searched
Post full pictures of the coin on both sides. Is that a die crack down from the D?
Re: Help!! I’ve searched and searched
I’m not sure what you are asking about.
If you are talking about the appearance of the mint mark, I agree with PMD (post mint damage).

Re: Help!! I’ve searched and searched
Yes that’s what I was trying to figure out. I will get full picture of both sides tonight and post up.
Re: Help!! I’ve searched and searched
I was asked to put these on earlier.

Re: Help!! I’ve searched and searched
Now look carefully for anything that looks unusual. Again, is there a die crack from the lower right of the D in Dollar going down to the rim? Is there a die file line starting over the A and going down over the L in Dollar? And look at the P in Pluribus. Anything else that you can see that is different than the normal coin. It is very hard to tell without the coin in hand.
Re: Help!! I’ve searched and searched
I’m trying to find something on there now. I’m waiting for my microscope to come in the mail to get a better look than my 30x magnifying lens. But from the looks of it now, it doesn’t seem to have any due cracks. Or maybe I’m just too new still and can’t distinguish it if there is one. Lol
