Post by RogerRock » Tue Jul 06, 2021 4:39 am

1922 D Previous listing mistake recognized on VAM 2AF revised in my APRIL 2021 letter. NEW VAM 2CE listed by LVA with small break below G and displaced field breaks at N-G and Y of LIBERTY.

1923 P NEW VAM 1DJ has die gouges above IN that are unlisted. Similar to VAMs 1BR and 1CB , but slightly different lateral positions. Indented strike doubling on nose, upper lip, chin, lower neck and 3 left side.

1923 S NEW VAM 1FM Heavy vertical die filing right obverse field to remove die crack. Indented strike doubling on nose, upper lip, chin, lower neck. Reverse die pitting at PEACE. Similar to VAM 1 AJ beveled hair front but different and slightly shorted ray.

1921 S VAM 1AL EDS Die breaks at MER before die file lines added. Note made in obverse and reverse descriptions that will be in next VAM Supplement update.

1921 P VAM 3R3 Revised Obverse has additional displaced field breaks at 92 and sixth right star.
Reverse has radial die crack thru E of ONE with unlisted displaced field. Listed break at R in AMERICA.
Die crack at UNITED with unlisted displaced field at ITED.

Letter and plate photos will be posted later.

Are there any meaningful die markers, die cracks, etc on 1923S VAM 1FM?
Thanks,
David

Obverse diagonal die crack from field left of R across R at bottom right serif across top of hair bun below T and then looping down into field toward Y disappearing into die file lines. Another die crack left center of hair bun runs down right diagonally out into field below Y. which intersects vertical die crack from rim above Y down through tip of lowest hair strand and down through V then R looping left towards 3.

Heavy die polish lines from R T Y down right side through TRVST which partially diminish die cracks described above.

Obverse diagonal die crack (left to right) from rim left of base of 1 across 1 up across tip of neck bust and across left top of T.

Long fine die crack through rays from top of third long ray across to below E.

Reverse die pitting at bottom includes rock, PEACE, and mountains.
