Looks like a 1921-S VAM 6B Missing S mint mark.
When in doubt... don't.

Yeah, the obverse die gouge at BU identifies this as VAM 6B Missing S mint mark.

I know I just thought it was funny, I sent in 3 1921 S and got back 2 and 1 extra 1921 P

Well, they are consistent with this variety. I don't even count it as a screw-up when one comes back in the wrong holder in a bulk order.

I'm going to guess that this 1921-S only gets designated as a 1921-S if it is also attributed as a VAM, which, of course, requires a VAM attribution fee. Was that the case with this particular coin?

Sorry Dennis, I forget to log in some times while I am looking over posts, so I missed your message. On this VAM they almost always catch the "A" where you have some of the mint mark present, but they seem to miss the "B" somewhat often. I find it humorous, more because while the 1921 P and D minted dollars share a common look, 1921 S dollars I can tell whit out flipping the coins, they have a distinctive look and feel.
