I won an coin on the bay on 8/9/2020 and was shipped on 8/10/2020 from Denver.
Eight days later it's in West Fargo, ND. I wonder long log it will take to get to Richmond, VA

I've had a cheapo book stuck in transit in Mississippi for over a month now. No sign of movement in their tracking.

Might these delays also be attributable to the reductions in service created by the Postmaster General? Seems he owns stock in companies that want to privatize the PO, and has issued an announcement of request for proposals to do that - while he tears the place apart. Ahhhh...what would Ben Franklin do?

If 'Futurama' is any sort of guide, he'd grab a 'Franklinator'

No need to make it personal, sheesh. Though it would take little effort to gather materials for a Franklinator in my neighborhood.
As for the USPS, they're just making the post office great again, no malfeasance intended.
This board needs to adopt some form of sarcasm font.
I go totally NUTS for WOW! VAMs!! Or is that from WOW! VAMs?

I used to get medications by mail. Took 2-3 days on average. Then it jumped to 2 weeks or more. I started picking the stuff up at a local pharmacy.
Not far from my location, the PO dismantled a large sorting center in Gaithersburg, Md. It is - or was - a critical distribution point for priority mail - like prescriptions, certified, voting ballots, etc. Hopefully, it will be reassembled so that prompt, reliable service can be restored.
Much of the PO's financial losses come from the requirement that it provide nationwide service to all points at the same rates for certain classes of mail. in addition, USPS is required to have offices in every approved town or village regardless of remoteness or mail volume. The sorting centers are cheap to run - they work just like UPS or FedEx centers, only they handle a much wider range of materials. The point is that anyone who is serious about cutting USPS expenses and reducing their deficit, has to look at the service area profile, not the sorting/distribution profile.

It would also save if they were to skip Saturday delivery, or even go to alternate day delivery MWF or TThS by route. Is there anyone out there who would be seriously hurt by this?

I would love my post office to drop Saturday service. As it is they are only open from 11:45 to 1:30. By that I mean you can go get the mail out of your PO box but not buy anything. No counter work. I wish they were just closed.

JR,
"It's like there's a deliberate effort to break the post office"
I wouldn't rule it out.

Won a coin last Sunday. Went from NJ and now it's stuck in Colorado. I might have Dennis pick it up. Maybe I will get a fifty state post mark on it.

I've had zero issues save one or two where it took an extra day or two over expectation.. and i ship a LOT of USPS packages. I'm getting ready to ship another 40-60 packages in a week or so actually. Just my personal experience, FWIW.

I have to agree with closing the office and deliveries on Saturday. I bet that would save a lot of money.

There is a silver lining... The last 3 shipments I sent via overnight mail with
a guaranteed delivery time were delivered late, so refund time!!!

I've got a package that took 7 days to go from Philly to Shreveport and then Shreveport sent it to the wrong post office 50 miles away from me. It was scanned miss sent and redirected. That was on Sept 28. Still not delivered and no updates on the tracking. I'm about to give up purchasing coins online and having to rely on USPS to try and deliver...

Sometimes I wish they didn't offer tracking. Then we would be ignorant of our packages. For the few FedEx I use, I don't even check the tracking. It isn't even close to the reality. I usually get it while it shows being stuck somewhere. I live in the middle of nowhere and there are five, 5, post offices within 30-40 minutes of me.
