O/T.... Channeling the Bunny!

Post by CascadeChris » Sat Aug 08, 2020 4:51 pm

So this thing popped up for $15 bucks and I couldn't resist. The surfaces are so honest and its clad so much harder than silver to get to this point (Casino?) and I thought maybe I could figure out a way to see the date. Haven't tried too hard yet but I do think I see a 3, maybe.

Anywho, thought I'd share and maybe get the bunny's juices flowing. If anyone has any tricks either manually or via photography tricks to maybe pop the date out a little to verify a date/mint please share. Thx!

WOW worn out. I have a buddy who carried a Bicentennial and it would not grade. Could not tell if it was a type I or II.

Chris,
As you know I wouldn't have much advise on the photography possibilities but have a dangerous amount of knowledge on chemical etching. There are a bunch of chemical etches that may revival the date but the after effects may turn this cool Ike from a $15 coin to a $1 coin. I guess it just turns into how curious you are. The Bunny may have a much better idea! Something as simple as peroxide and vinegar may work or it could take a metallurgical etching chemical. (that's where it becomes dangerous).

Yeah, non-invasive. If this were a junker I might just for fun but for such a lowball.. and clad.. and with such honest surfaces. Cant do it. Maybe ill send it to ANACS under variety attribution to see if it comes back with a date on the label 😈💩 😎
