1889 v 23A Maybe????????????????
1889 v 23A Maybe????????????????
Well if my recent luck could get any better i will know tomorrow or Fri when she arrives
its a ms toner and displays all the PUP'S- Except the I in IN at neck is questionable so it
could be 40A2 but the total roughness at UNUM rim is there No clash rev as well
Makes one shiver a bit LOL Lets hope as i know a deserving member here who could
sure use one to further a set.
Chances are against 23A but fun to fantazize- if it is im a happy older member
Will follow up in any event with result

Re: 1889 v 23A Maybe????????????????
yeah but will you return it???

Re: 1889 v 23A Maybe????????????????
Good luck and never say never. Even if the best you can do is an image from a flatbed scanner like you used in your recent eBay listings, It should work for an actual VAM 23A. Drag and drop, just like this image file....

Re: 1889 v 23A Maybe????????????????
IM headed to post office in a couple hrs- lets hope---
Dennis H would return it or i would visit idaho with my cannon LOL
Funny thing= This raw coin is toned both sides in what looks authentic/original
Makes much tougher to attribute from pics. especially the I by neck
MY $50 pick sure has me excited but what are the chances??
Hope reality is not a JR crusher of dreams LOL
This sort of stuff makes it all a blast
I must say= I continue to look at thousands of coins and the work & hrs
involved are many. My point being that being a successful
anything involves work and dedication. After all that things seem
to drop into place more easily with much less resistance

Well here we go- Scott = 1889 23A dream crusher=
So ths toner has all the pup of 23a except no IN at neck I compared it to my ms62
and its confusing/I dont know what i have!!!!!
Not 40A1 or 2 not 19b1/2
OBV Clasing matches to a tee- roughness obv from PLU libs hair all the way to date
Counter clashed exactly like 23A
I searched for similiar 1889 vams withot neck letter transfer - havent found it yet???
Im baffled for now ANY PROS THAT COULD POINT IN RIGHT DIRECTION APPRECIATED

Re: 1889 v 23A Maybe????????????????
Go back to basics
1- date position
2-date doubling
3- reverse doubling
4- check the ear
Do those 4 things and you'll have your girl

Re: 1889 v 23A Maybe????????????????
Too bad, I know a few of us that would pay $$$+.
Also, would be nice to have a few more found so more collectors could enjoy.
Keep up the hunt!
