Ok! I didn't buy any coins! However, I did get me a nice 5 Dollar 1808 Derby Fishing Company note for my collection it is # 1148 and signed by Canfield Gillet and really is a nice New York Note. I also picked up 3 funny back notes all MS 1928 A and B with a plain Jane 1934 which I didn't have in MS. It was a fun trip!!

Wasn't the educational note series literally designed to bring art to the masses outside of New York & Philadelphia? In the 1800s neo-classical art was almost exclusively seen in the cosmopolitan areas of the east coast. What better way to expose the children of western settlers to beautiful art than by putting it on money, or so the theory went..

I went to the st. Charles Illinois show and had a field day! Picked some great stuff up there. Was going to do Fredericksburg but decided to to do st. Charles and Rockford Illinois instead. I am glad I did.
