Interesting 1902-O
I stumbled across a 1902 O that stumped me, and the more I looked at it the more interesting it got.
I wonder if someone here can help.
LFCP provided below, followed by my attribution notes. I'll try and post a couple regionals too, and a close-up or two of a feature if necessary. (beveled denticles are pretty cool when view from the side). Note on the notes: I am not implying that everything NOT flagged as nonlistable is actually listable. There are plenty non-listable items in the notes.
I didn't have my normal setup, so lighting was very directional. Here's a second set with lighting from another angle to show more attributes.

Here are a couple cropped areas of interest.
Re: Interesting 1902-O
The crack in the date and filled 2,should give you a start as to what it could be.
Re: Interesting 1902-O
The crack through the mm looks like VAM-66 or 66A

Re: Interesting 1902-O
Wow, you guys are great - VAM-66A it is. I do remember this photo (which just kills me now), but the profile doubling is so strong, I focused almost all of my attention on these groups
Normal Date with Doubled Profile - C4
Near Date with Doubled Profile - C4
So, why is the (strong) doubled profile not in the VAM-66 or 66A listing?!
It's not mentioned in the 66A listing at all, and only now I see it's in the sub listing for the OBV Things I missed: didn't notice the small break under the bust point until much later (it is small), and my '1' flag doubling in the field is very subtle (but it's there). The flag doubling I noted was a slight doubling on the top surface of the '1'. I also looked for the pitting near the D, but didn't see it because it's so shallow, soft or subtle.
Thanks for the hint BigJavee - I hadn't seen see the date crack in any photos, except 51A which is a similar but a little different. The pages instruct one to ignore filled 2's (TDITD) so I tried
. Mine was lacking the doubled ear and clash, so I doubt that was what you were alluding to anyway. However, I just noticed now that Lee's v66A photo here does actually show a hint of the crack between 9 & 0 in the date.
@ljs123 - can you tell me where this wing gouge in the listing resides? The only thing I see on my coin is a couple roughly-vertical scratches on the eagle's right wing - one between each row of feathers.
Is it acceptable for me to update the V66 and 66A listings with comments so profile doubling is called out, and also update the guides to move V66 and 66A into the profile doubled groups? I won't touch a thing unless it's authorized.

Re: Interesting 1902-O
Sorry, I don't know much about the 1902-Os (unless they are clashed
).
Alan would be able to give you much better info on 02-Os.

No problem. The reason I asked was because I thought the photos of the 66A were yours, and was hoping you'd still have the coin? Thanks Asian for the help.
Hi Alan (@LateDateMorganGuy) - Any chance you'd have insight into the die gouge that's supposed to be on the 1902-O VAM-66A?

Some photos were mine from a few years ago. I no longer have the coin. Because it's not clashed.

Re: Interesting 1902-O
Sorry, but I am traveling and won't be back to the Scott Dungeon to look at my stash of 1902-Os until Dec 3rd or so. The V66A was listed by a John Coxe coin, so I don't have the VAM Plates for the V66A. But I can look at my coins when I get back into town on the 3rd. Best to ping me with a PM or resurrect this thread so maybe I see it because I may forget by then.
All that being said, your coin looks to be a V66A.

Re: Interesting 1902-O
I found some time to look a little closer. Here are two possibilities for gouges on the eagles right wing. Neither is very wide and deep, but they could be considered gouges. Scratches, thread-like impressions and gouges are sometimes used in place of each other, and it seems to depend on the year and mint.
Think they could be the gouges referenced in the VAM-66A listing?

Re: Interesting 1902-O
It's either 66 or 66A. I can't tell if you have the lumpy pitting left of the D in DOLLAR or not, and that's the difference between the two.
Edit: I see you've figured that out. Never mind, then.

Re: Interesting 1902-O
Thanks. All I could find from the straight on shots was this one. the pitting is more visible when viewed from the side.
