It looks like you are seeing small die cracks. These are very common and typically form between peripheral elements (letters, numbers, stars), but also often form elsewhere on the coin. They're only something to get excited about when they get really thick and pronounced. Take a look at the 1888-O VAM 1B ("Scarface") for an exciting die break.
