First coin back from LVA... and my first discovery piece!
First coin back from LVA... and my first discovery piece!
Super pumped about getting my coin back from LVA, along with a letter describing the new sub-variety for the 1925-S peace dollar! See the letter below as well as the microscope photo from LVA. Also linked is going to be the original post I made here a while back talking about this coin which has a good amount of photographs that I took. Just a couple of questions that I had:
1. How should I move forward into getting this info added onto the vamworld website? Not sure if someone here does it or not.
2. Even though this is technically a sub-variety, will it be added into the next peace dollar supplement?
3. Wanting to submit this to either ANACS or VSS to be slabbed as a "discovery" coin. Can anyone help me out with that?

Congrats. The first is always special. Do you need help setting up the page?
Re: First coin back from LVA... and my first discovery piece!
I'll take care of it for you.
Re: First coin back from LVA... and my first discovery piece!
For an ANACS submission, just put the new variety in the variety field on the form (available online) and note it is the discovery piece. Include a copy of Mr. Van Allen's letter and plates and we'll grade, attribute and pedigree the piece. Congratulations on your first discovery.

New page is all setup.

Likewise if you're submitting to VSS (except I won't grade it).vampicker wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2019 12:00 pmFor an ANACS submission, just put the new variety in the variety field on the form (available online) and note it is the discovery piece. WTG !!! Yes, your first discovery is always special !!!! I have an example of your "NEW DISCOVERY" and noticed a large pit mark under the "D" in GOD in your example,my example has it too. One thing about pitted examples of Peace Dollars, sometimes tough to tell which pitted Vam you have (a lot of them look the same). Leroy points out markers to distinguish the difference between them. The scratch or gouge in "W" of WE is the marker for the 7A, and would venture to say that the large pit mark will also be a marker for this pitted Vam. Congrats !!! on a new "Pitted Peace Dollar" !!!

Woah that’s actually really awesome seeing that my submission actually applied to coins other people already have! Good point about the large pit I actually hadn’t noticed that before.bigjayvee wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2019 2:37 pmjv 1925 p v7a obv. 08-23-19.jpgWTG !!! Yes, your first discovery is always special !!!!
