I was wondering if anybody could tell me if there was a premium associated with a 1887 VAM-10. it might just be me but I think it is undergraded (which isn't that surprising sense it is in an old NGC holder) but I want other opinions just to be sure.
Does anybody know how to rotate a photo because I've been trying and I just haven't been getting it right.

I plan to collect VAMs and maybe discover new ones, but until then I'm just here.

Those are turning because of the image size parameters set in the forum . you can try to crop them square , they just cant be too big or they won't load @messydesk could tell you how and what size .I tried to turn them upright but the forum just flipped them right back ...

Is there a premium value for VAM 10?
There has been in the past (50-100%), although I can't even begin to understand why and I'm highly skeptical about it being repeatable.
Your old "no-line fatty with gold lettering" holder, however, is scarce, popular, and very likely to continue bringing a nice premium in the marketplace, although holder collectors basically don't give a darn about the VAM inside. I suggest you do price research for common date MS64s in these holders in the Heritage Auctions sales archives. It's a tedious job, but I suspect you will be surprised at what the trend is in recent years.
It's also important to keep in mind that the added value from a VAM attribution depends upon the physical attribution itself. Specifically, those that are on a holder's insert tag bring the most. Self-attributed attributions bring the least (sometimes minimal or even none). That's because anyone who is doing a registry set with PCGS or NGC has to have the attribution done by the grading service itself, and the cost of postage/attribution fee/etc. to send in an unattributed coin and get the update really adds up.
When in doubt... don't.

Thank you, I am surprised it even has/had a premium, I will do extra research on heritage auction and greatcollections and I know that self attributing a VAM won't bring any value but it gives me an extra thing to do.

I plan to collect VAMs and maybe discover new ones, but until then I'm just here.

The premiums for these holders, sometimes referred to as "engraved" holders, tend to be gigantic lately... like 10X (or more) the normal price.
When in doubt... don't.

In my opinion I got it for a low price (for an engraved NGC holder)from GreatCollection for $113.62.

I plan to collect VAMs and maybe discover new ones, but until then I'm just here.
