1896 morgan pci rating 65+. What's it worth

It has nice toning on front. 65+ rated in a pci graded slab. What could I get for it. Morgan uncirculated

1896 is one of the many "common dates" in the Morgan series. The accuracy of PCI grades tend to be poorly regarded in the coin marketplace, so prices for PCI coins are often significantly discounted compared to PCGS and NGC coins of the same grade. I would expect a PCI MS65+ coin to sell for MS64 money ($90 or so) at best, and would not be surprised if it brought less.

I'll chime in that I've never run across any PCI slabbed coin that is accurately graded. Always overinflated by at least 1 if not 2 if not 3 grades. Many 'unc' coins are definitely sliders (AU58 or 55).

Sad, too, because they tend to drive somewhat affordable coins into the realm of expensive. Thankfully, and as mentioned, 1896 Philly coins are readily available and, thus, inexpensive in wonderfully high grades.

I've gotten some good (early PCI) graded ones. The gold labels are worth looking at as well.

Only the earliest PCI incarnations are graded with any degree of accuracy and predictability, and they didn't use "+" as part of their grade. I say incarnations rather than generations, because almost every redesign of the PCI label represents a different company that kept the PCI name for some reason. Reputation was worthless for the most recent few, so that couldn't have been the reason.

Best to show a picture of your coin to get a guess as to what it could be worth.

In Early Days of original PCI TPG, I learned to Buy them at huge discounts of 2-3 or more grades,
thus receivingsomenice coins at give away prices. I learned to really grade during these former/early
yrs. I made a fortune on PCI U. S. Gold coinage, Mostly indians, that i cherry picked and sold the best
to 3 local dealers sometimes 4x my money. others bought real cheap, if not cleaned i broke out and
sent to Anacs & some to NGC

One yr made me about 200k in just PCI flea bay buys- Those were exciting days for me and boosted
my Numismatic confidence and grading skills as well as problem coin detection.
I put every dime into Gold + Silver Bullion which i held for several yrs and 6x my money++++
