That's remarkable!
I have a PCGS-62 in my database that sold for $190 back in 2010, and an NGC-61 that went for $113 in 2009.
When in doubt... don't.

Wierd sales pop up here & again but mostly if someone needs that vam desperately to fill a hole
in a set. Unfortunately Tons of $$$$ have been lost in EQUITY of set holders the past several yrs
Many folks have been stung by the hype created within the niche vam mkt, Conversly many a dollar
made -mostly by "In The Know " astuit collector/investor vam nuts. Newer vammers trying to capitilize
on fast money profits paid the price.
IMHO only= I understand the set thing but still firmly dis agree with the unproven appreciation values
and in fact huge EQUITY losses many set collectors are faced with. Many a wife pissed off here. lol
Most just say they do sets for love of collecting/but sets are being broken up to sell continually.

Well; We all love our Morgans no matter which direction we aspire to collect
I must say that my beloved DMPL & PL Morgans have held up nicely in this soft mkt, so i won one
as many old pro told me yrs ago to stay away from their premium. Common sense told me America
likes FLASH and Boy do they.

This type of conversation looks very familiar to me. In fact, it looks very similar to one that turned into a very bad result on VW 1.0. If I'm wrong, no worries. If I'm right, don't do it SH. Just an old VAMmers calling out spots, they don't change...

Kenny.... I recognized him also. I don`t understand the hatred? If you don`t like his opinions, move on.

Where in that statement do you read hatred???? You mean the reference to his dealings in VW 1.0 where he constantly tried to circumvent the rules and policies? Or the reference to his being called out for it not once, not twice, but three times that I can remember. And his fourth time around lasted less than a week and all he did was attack Rob. He was booted for that one. He is trouble, and he will prove it again. Mark my words

Incredible!!
The last two prices I have for a 62 (in 2013 and 2014) are $329 and $255.
The last 61 price (in 2011) is $135.
When in doubt... don't.

What the heck is going on with this date? These recent prices are 2-3 times what they have been in the past.

I sold a MS-63 Vam 46 a few weeks back on ebay for $850

Not sure why...... I would not have paid that much for it, it was a nice coin but I was thinking more in the $200 range.

That kind of throws a bucket of water on hopes that it's a 64 in a 63 holder.

Yep..... not a 64.

The reverse was a solid 63PL ,very nice. The obverse was a 62, maybe a + or a 63 on a good day. The obv was semi PL but I don't think it would PL at the big 3 but it might have on a good day. Overall a very nice bright coin that would grade at the big 3.

The consigner of this coin told me to price it between $1500-2000 with a best offer. After I got done laughing I said $200-500 might be a better place to start. Guess ya can just call me stupid

Got a (net $1350) offer (declined) via Heritage for PCGS 62PL that I won from then in a 2017 auction. I had not followed this set much recently but don't know why the price for these keeps going up so much.

1879s r78’s have skyrocketed suddenly. As someone at the Michigan state show said Friday, they have become the new 1903o. They are going crazy. I saw an ms61 got for $570 Friday. And it was a common one. I did find a vam 51 in pcgs64pl at the show, but I paid way over sheet to get it. I wonder how the pops of 1879s r78 compare to other rare dates in mint state.

Greysheet has started to move up significantly on the date as well.

The date that the MS coin graded seems to reflect the most from the POP reports of both NGC and PCGS is a 1883-s. There are probably others, but it is the coin that sticks out that is comparable to me. PCGS has a few more MS65 79-S R78 than 83-s but other comparisons are similar IMO.

My guess would be about Graysheet of $65 because it is a reverse of 79 (and not a listed rev of 79), not a reverse of 78 that is getting the big bucks.
I could be wrong.
