1923 D R7

Post by Clovis » Thu Oct 08, 2020 2:58 pm

I've come across an R7 a 1923 D 1X2. It is the first I have found. I'm wondering what does the rarity do for the value of the coin? I know that is a broad question, but I am thinking in terms of those who have experience with an R7 they have had.
Thanks

I'm not a Peace dollar collector and I know very little about Peace VAMs. But since no one else is rushing to make a comment, I will offer my thoughts:

1. Peace dollar collecting by VAM seems to be pretty modest.
2. VAM 1X2 is not part of the Elite 30 set, which I suspect limits its demand even more.
3. This example is in quite a low grade, which limits demand still more.

I would not be surprised if there were no premium for this particular coin. But like I said, know very little about Peace VAMs.
When in doubt... don't.

Thank you for your frank reply. I can see the reasoning you give and would agree on all points.

I'm going to guess it will have a modest premium for someone who needs it.
Also, You can't really count on the R raing, as it was a guess based upon when the coin was discovered.
Some remain rare, others not so much... The 82-CC Vam 3D is vastly overated as an R7.
I've seen so many I stopped looking for them.
