1934-S Vam3?

Hello everyone,
I was sent this coin with the hope I may want to purchase it.

Please take a look at these photos.
No price has been set, but I think he is after my stimulation check. The seller is getting his price info from unsold Ebay coins that are listed now.....not good.

What do you think it may be worth, judging from these photos? Any input will be appreciated. It seems to be a very weak strike to me and I am thinking if it were to be a Vam 3 that may makeup for it. Thank you.

You need Dr. Close for this one, because I'm almost clueless about grading Peace dollars. My guess on this one is XF40 and the strike looks great to me.

At that level, Greysheet for generic coins is $95. The PCGS Price Guide for a graded and attributed VAM 3 is $175.

Heritage has sold just one example in XF, a PCGS-45 that looks pretty nice in the photos. It went for $188.

Is there much of a market for circulated Peace dollar VAMs?

I wonder also if their is much of a market for the Peace Vams. We sure do have a bunch of raw ones in my neck of the woods. They seem kind of hard to read.
I like those Morgans much better I guess. They are not afraid to tell you their story.
How would one solicit the help of Dr. Close?

The OBV also appears to be cleaned.

The market is good for TOP 50 Peace dollars in MS .. Soft on AU55 58 .
Your 1934-S looks cleaned .. I have been told by the big boys their goes half the value . my guess on value is 150 .

If the seller is getting his pricing info from unsold lots on eBay, I'm sure he'll be happy with his joining them as unsold lots.

It does seem the coin has been cleaned, but that's because there's some remaining black gunk on it. The hairlines I'm seeing in the picture aren't really screaming "harshly cleaned" to me as much as they are indicating the general lighting direction. If it's not a problem coin, then it looks more AU50-53 than XF.

thank you JB. Good point. I used info here and got a price, and bought the coin.
My main reason for the purchase was what I think I see in this screen shot of my photo, and the overlay photo attempt.
I maybe off the wall, but having fun learning.
I am researching this idea in Discussion Forum now. Within the realm of possibilities? Be kind please....

Yes JB, I do realize this. I am just looking at that Vast realm of possibilities.....
I can visualize this new guy at work during the Great Depression. His first day on the job at the Mint running a press. He is trying to realign and install a reworked hammer die as he's been trained. The die slips accidentally from his greasy fingers before it was chucked and clashes into its paired partner below. To make things even worse, that die was off 180° in alignment when it dropped.
The resulting clash mark and the overlayed photo depiction above do/could line up. Imo. Any input is appreciated when on a learning curve like I am.
