Grade and Value? 1888 O Scarface

Looks like a 62, which is the typical Scarface grade. Probably worth somewhere around $5000. Toning is nice, but doesn't really come into play much.

First, you have to get it graded... and maximum value will come in a PCGS holder.
Such a coin -- I think yours is a strong 62 (and a very attractive one) and it's the most desirable H10 die state -- has been selling lately in the $4,500 range.
As a reference point, Heritage sold a PCGS-63 in January 2018 for $5,520 that looks similar to yours.

It takes MS64 for Scarfaces to break $10,000 any more..

That is a really incredible coin. Along with VAMs in general, I am also a big fan of toning and that baby has it. I say it is worth that crazy money, not that I have it...The reverse photo makes it look like it was the end or start of a roll. Good luck..

If it were any other date, I would say MS62.
But PCGS grades Scarfaces especially easy, so I'm confident it would come back MS63.
