Where are these images stored? Or are they attachments that are put into a table?

I down loaded the files as an attachment in another post (1891 O VAM 8A) then created a table and used the same URL in this post.

Code: Select all

http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/forum/download/file.php?id=4
download/file.php?id=4

Andy will recognize the photograph retrieved by rendering the above url. Notice that the file id is 4. Thus the file is not retrieved by the uploaded filename. The script, file.php, is fed the ID number and retrieves the file based on a unique ID. Thus, files can not be overwritten. My bet is that your LFCP was the 4th upload. For grins, lets check id 1. Who has the honors?

Code: Select all

http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/forum/download/file.php?id=1
download/file.php?id=1

Those arrows are a signature of the person expected to have made the first upload. Notice that the only difference between the above urls is the file ID. Like Wikispaces, but unlike SD, uploads appear to go into one bucket. The bucket is somewhere in cyberspace.

Let's have a look at the url for the image of the original post. Firefox reports the image location as

Code: Select all

http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/forum/download/file.php?mode=view&id=68&sid=1fe0880e8d47455503bc523b2f88ca57
download/file.php?mode=view&id=68&s ... 3b2f88ca57

Firefox reports the link location as

Code: Select all

http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/forum/download/file.php?mode=view&id=68&sid=1fe0880e8d47455503bc523b2f88ca57
download/file.php?mode=view&id=68&s ... 3b2f88ca57

Notice that the urls are the same. Wayne did not use a thumbnail solution. Thus the image displayed in the table and the image displayed by following the link are one and the same. I don't know what the sid hex is about, I suspect it is a server cache reference. Is the sid necessary? Let's remove it from the url.

Code: Select all

http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/forum/download/file.php?id=68
download/file.php?id=68

The file id is all that is needed.

Oh boy....
So if one was to upload "attachments", and they want to put it into a table in the same post instead of stacking attachments, could that be done with the proper coding? I haven't tried it, but maybe someone already has...Andy

I am pretty sure I have seen a post that demonstrates this. The file ID uniquely identifies a file regardless of the upload method; drag/drop, paste, or attachments tab. Once you determine the file id, the coding is the same for local files as for external files; the file URL. For example, go to

Code: Select all

http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=80
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=80

The "attachment" image is framed. In Firefox, chose to copy the image location

Code: Select all

http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/forum/download/file.php?id=138
Given that you are not using a thumbnail for the post image (an optimization for high resolution images), the code to display file ID 138, with optional linked viewing, in a 2X1 table, follows.

Code: Select all

Roll of 1878-CC Morgans

Roll of 1878-CC Morgans
Image

Notice that there is no "enlarge" when following the link. The image is 506 px wide. It is less than the 860 px wide limit determined by the configuration of this phpBB. Thus, the image is displayed at native resolution within the post. After clicking on the image, there is no scale up to native resolution; no enlarge. Nonetheless, the linked image is opened in a new window. This can be useful for reasons other than high resolution viewing; perhaps printing.

More table code.

Bingo. Keep in mind one can only load 5 files at the beginning of the post (default). After the post is submitted then additional files maybe be loaded by clicking on the replay button.
