1878- s vam 1i first use of the B-2 reverse

Post by 78-sLongnock » Sun Dec 09, 2018 6:39 pm

The 1878 -s vam 1i is the first use of the B2 Reverse.
This one is the seventh one known to surface from the wild.
1 AU, 1 XF and rest are under VG.
This new raw one has AU details,

The OB progression is as follows:
1878 S v72, Vam 59, which are B-1 Rev’ ( long nocks for the neophyte ) Vam 1i ( first use of B2) Vam 18 spaghetti wing, Vam 18A spaghetti wing.

BTW, love how much easier it is to post pictures with the new system
For those of us who are not tech savvy!
THANK YOU 🙏!

I am looking forward to your FUN coin show presentation at the VAM Thing on Fri Jan 11.
I am interested in finding out about when these B2reverse were struck in relation to the San Francisco mint's striking of the B2 reverse on the first day of 1878-S Morgan dollars -- later on the first day, second day ??

If I was gonna lay odds on one person finding half the known population of a variety, I know who I'd bet on.

I have found the majority of the population on 1878 v123, 166, and 1879s v50, and possibly the 1879s v34b.

Thanks all,
Yep, not surprising Brian “the discoverer extraordinaire” found over half of them.
Rob AKA (The squirrel ) found one (Nut)
And this is the seventh one found in the wild 😜

Hehe, I actually have to admit I didn't "find" one... I tripped over one.... ;)
It was truly a case of "I have know idea what the hell this is, but it sure looks neat!"
I go totally NUTS for WOW! VAMs!! Or is that from WOW! VAMs?

Who cares “how” you found it? The fact that you found one is the big thing.
