Would you consider this massive struck thru completely obliterating the "O" of DOLLAR a positive or negative for this tough to find coin?

Tough call on whether it's a positive or negative thing. I find the VAM more exciting than the strike-thru, so would buy it for that and the strike-thru would be a bonus, but not one I'd pay for, sort of like getting an extra cherry in my brandy old fashioned. Were this on a generic 79-S, it would be the strike-thru scoring coolness points.

I think the most important question would be , do you think it is a positive ? despite all the lists , and the values and the rarity , do you think it's cool ?????.... that tidbit that @LateDateMorganGuy shared on here a while back that read something like "collect what you like and like what you collect " hit home with me more so than any list by anyone ever written . I like your coin for both its harder to find statues and the strike through . 1 of 1 stuff means something even if only to the guy who snagged it IMO . but I am a nobody so take my comments with a grain of salt . and possibly a shot of tequila if you are so inclined

Thanks for the tidbit. Collecting what I like has been the road I took. I don't get involved with trying to compete for top sets of listed coins. Glad you liked my coin and by the way you are not a nobody. Follow through with collecting what you like. It will make you a lot happier than always having a one upmanship carrot in front of you. I'm not a tequila guy, but I will enjoy a beer tonight.
