1882 1F (ish)?

Just curious where this would fall with the listings on the 82 page?
Full disclosure, I finally found the John Austin stage that got delisted during the submission...

Is it possible that VAM 1F series reverts back to a VAM 1 per revision 22 below?

4/2008 22 revision -Yes, has unlisted unusual die polishing lines in various directions on face! Could have been attempt to remove fine rust pits. No die clash marks. Absent the clash coin reverts back to VAM-1. Note die marker - reverse first S in STATES has small gouge across serif.

I would call it VAM 1F EDS, title it "Normal dies" and mention the scratches below the eye and the dies not yet beign clashed. Once we know what the die pair is, there's nothing to gain by labeling it ambiguously as VAM 1.

I have it stickered EDS 1F, as JB suggests. Just wondered why 1F “vanished” from the list.
I have 1F1 and F2 examples. My 1F1 is pictured on the page. The rev wing chip is on all 3 stages, so the marriage is not in question.

I can find the submission and LVA response if you like.

This is the stage LVA punted on and J Austin lost his 22 Discovery over.

The above pictured coin was originally called VAM 22. When it was submitted with 4 or 5 1F’s it was left out of the mix and delisted as the V22

Austin and I were angered and confused by it. We were like “wait what just happened here…

Anyway, the reverse doubling is pretty hard to miss on this example.

So 1 F is still a thing, if it doesn’t fit F1 or F2 was my question

There is currently a VAM 22 listed. Was what is now called VAM 1F EDS originally listed as VAM 22 before 2000? If so, what was the specification? Doubled/tripled reverse? If presented with the current 1F EDS, 1F1, 1F2 and the reverse is a doubled or tripled die, I might be inclined to renumber them as VAMs 46, 46A, and 46B, respectively, thus getting rid of the confusion exhibited in this thread surrounding the use of VAM 1. If a complete progression is available, including anything between 1F1 and 1F2, all the better. The goal is to document these clearly and unambiguously.

It’s been a long question, not just from me, as to how you have a letter transfer VAM 1.

This my take a bit of coordination, as there are now 2 newer discoveries F1 & 2. I can send this one and my F2, but I think you’ll want the (I think ) Lee DC and the M gouges DC, just my guess.

Austin’s V 22 DC (delisted) and perhaps a 22a, if you don’t still have yours (JB)

Your 1F2 will have to do. I no longer have my DC. Can’t remember where it went, but I don’t think it was anyone here.

FYI
There is another 1F(#?) out there. It is another clash with transfer that occurred after the current 1F2. I’m not sure, but I might have photos somewhere. It was a high grade that sold for more than what I wanted to pay.

The 22..sorry JB circling back. I call it die 1 and die 2. The newly listed so called VAM 22 die 2 is classification it is not a 22A die pair.

I’m not 100% this 1 F is either, but the 2 fill and RPD look right for 22a obv..
