Photos for 1881-CC VAM-5
The VW listing has no photos for this variety so I'm posting here to get perspectives on PUPs. This is a high-grade example with several features not mentioned in the VW description. Do others who have this variety see the same things? Specifically, there is a distinct gouge between the olive branch and the arrow feathers and significant die chips in both 8s. (Also, could someone explain the cause of the artifacts surrounding many of the peripheral letters and stars?)

I think what you have there is an 1881-CC VAM-2. Check out that page and you should find the die gouge between the arrow feathers and olive branch. You are quite right about it being pretty distinctive! Nice coin! VAMon
Have a great day!
