I can't believe, that I missed this cool die break all of these years.
I have Tom and his great 1922 vam 26A find to thank for, because I got my 1922
Peace dollars out to search for that 'Tear Die Chip on the Top of the Wing' vam 26A.
As you can see it is a very EDS, but I was glad, that I finally saw it.
I think all of the doubling, that I see, like the last 2 and the profile, is machine doubling
right?
Enjoy, Bert

Nice coin, and yes, strong machine doubling. I would call the break medium die state, a true EDS would be more crack than break in that area. Undergraded too!
Re: 1922 VAM 2C1 EDS DIE BREAK
Thanks for the post as it prompted me to go back and look at my own. The 2C2 listing has a nice writeup and apparently there are 4 stages. The last two are more a barrette than extra hair. We both appear to be stage 2. This coin was my first breakout of a details coin that came back straight graded from a different TPG. Victories are memorable. My fine haired lady:

Nice pickup, in an old rattler to boot!
