I almost feel bad about posting this one. Almost.
The story is, it came to me as-is in a straight-up trade for my 1878 VAM 44 in an ANACS AU details holder (it looked AU53/55 to me). I bought it for the full sticker price asked by a longtime dealer of high end Morgans, so it's my cost basis on this 1880-P VAM 8. Have fun!

It is dealers choice sir .... The group decide the guesses can't be over the price paid , like the game show So there is that . I know I am on a time limit to play , cause we are T minus 24 hours to 10 days in the hills in the relentless pursuit of trophy Mule deer . So It is up to you .....it is actually kind of a snapshot for folks reading that might not really post on here . I was hoping to get some of the names that just register and so far maybe only lurk to play .You guys aren't really that scary..... In reality I have found some pretty good folks on this board ... OK, confession time.
For the VAM 44 I used to make this trade I paid just $40. That was the sticker price on the holder, and I even pointed to it when I asked the dealer, "Is this the price?" He said yes.
The person I traded with cherrypicked the VAM 8 as a raw coin. He paid less than that for it – less than what the grading, attribution and postage cost.

So do we have a winner here? Everyone missed by miles, but Jodemyer missed by the fewest.

OK, here's a fun one. LVA made it my very first VAM Discovery in 2002. A couple years later, PCGS owner David Hall put Discovery Coin on the holder as thanks for enlisting 3 fellow VAMers to submit a list of VAM recommendations that PCGS should begin attributing. Before then they only did basic stuff like R78-R79, O/S, 1887/6, etc.
