Apologies, was vacationing on the Norfolk coast until today. Still have sand in-between my... er... toes. I'll land stateside in about a week and a half and can shoot mine towards JB as soon as possible. That'd be quicker than if I dropped it in the post from here (although not necessarily cheaper as my plane ticket was tad bit higher than Royal Mail postage... will let you know when it's on the way!

@keilg1
Hope you are having a great vacation! Wishing you safe travels! I only had the one 1880S but I sent with a few more to be attributed.
Mine just arrived at Barrington IL Post Office today. Looking forward to the results! @fogie @messydesk

JB, would you still like mine to be sent after I arrive at the end of the month? Happy to post it to you then.

I have Brent's and Jody's coins in front of me at the moment. It actually looks like Jody's is VAM 24, and not Brent's. The VAM book clearly shows the chip that is in the top of the upper loop of the first 8. The reverses of the two coins are the same, with Brent's being later die state. It also appears that the reverse is indeed the same as that of VAM 10, with VAM 24 being earlier.

Thanks @messydesk ! I could not match anything except the chip on the obverse! I was wondering!

A little more digging and Brent's 80-S labeled VAM 24 is actually VAM 105, cataloged with the C3q reverse of VAM 10. It was discovered in 2013 by one Brent Fogelberg. I'm going to change the reverse name of VAM 24 to C3q to keep it consistent with VAMs 10 and 105.

Thanks! @messydesk
So is my 24 an eds or different die state than the plate pics since it does not have the scribbles or the other obverse markers? Or I could not see them anyway lol other than the die chip in the 8 that is.

The obverse pictures on the VAM 24 page were all VAM 105, so I removed them from the VAM 24 page. I added the clear picture of the chip inside the upper loop of the 8. I may add a couple more. VAM 24 has the earliest reverse of 24, 10, and 105.

Awesome sauce...
To confirm, though: @messydesk, you do not need me to send mine to ya?

Pretty sure 110 die pairs would be a job for Superman or @fogie
and not this kid

Pretty sure the first thing you would learn is the amount of money it would take to buy that many coinsmessydesk wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 9:20 pm"A journey of a thousand miles..."UNCLE BINGO wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 7:08 pmPretty sure 110 die pairs would be a job for Superman or @fogie
