So Boring/So Long
Unlike yesteryears VW has become so mundane/boring that
its Sad, because it used to be fun, but those days have passed.
Guess its a great time to quit coins and enjoy what time we have
left in retirement.

Re: So Boring/So Long
Could you switch to passing information to new collectors, or searching for answers to questions? Those might be just a couple of things to bring back the fun and interactions.

Re: So Boring/So Long
Trying my best to keep spirits and discussons light and entertaining... I'm getting the sense that most are just tired of the way much of the world has changed.
Even more reason, to me, to keep engaged in this wonderful community. Most of y'all are my therapy so I'm hugely appreciative of ya. Not that you're inexpensive - hell, you're costing me a fortune! But worth every penny.... er, dollar.

Re: So Boring/So Long
If your not having FUN you must be in it for the MONEY , that is wrong . IT is the beauty of the coins and life
of the Morgan and Peace Dollars. How about the people you meet , i say WoW to the people
I have been retired 22 years and having FUN in Life and collecting Morgan and Peace Dollars .
You can eat ,shit and die or have FUN FUN

Re: So Boring/So Long
Im having health issues and being super short tempered anyway,
just makes it all 10x worse. Anger management 101 LOL
Did just really enjoy rumaging through my 10 oz silver bars ie: Twin Towers
are real cool & bringing premiums
i appreciate money but love Morgans more as its been 59 yrs now
collecting/messing with them. Vams became second wave financially
for me and honestly made me several million dollars due to increased
Morgan values over say 10-15 yrs. I simply have lost much interest these
last 4 yrs or so- on many facets-diabetes not helping !! Eyes worsening,
teeth =Almost gone/doing dentures/ congestive heart ? heart doc
today= shit- dont get old !! This is why im so pissy i think ! Just over
months of foot/toe open sores that wouldnt heal (diabetes) 5 wks in
cast right foot, rendered me pretty damm inactive. Scared crap outta me
Sorry for posting the negative crap!! Im pissed at everything LOL

Re: So Boring/So Long
Sorry to hear of your health problems Scott, can only like others, wish you the best in getting better. Surely, looking at your coins daily can keep you smiling, provide you with some happiness. Like myself and others on this site, it's age and health problems but you gotta battle on, enjoy each day as best as you can. I'm on here daily excited to read some of the posts and enjoy looking at pics of some nice coins. Wish you well,
Steve.

Re: So Boring/So Long
That's a nice listing of VAMs on Heritage!

Re: So Boring/So Long
I am so happy the way Heritage does business, as i could never
ever do my coins the justice they deserve.
I like that quite a few have private label "The Oregon Collection",
on the holder. I also like knowing the check will clear as i know a
couple friends that got scamed & lost it all to crooks.
One doctor acquaintaince lost $250k a few yrs back
If it sounds to good to be true, your gettin ready to be a victim.
Doctor was greedy and wouldnt listen to anybody, even his wife,
who divorced him over the mess

Absolutely agree that health issues weigh heavily on older people. Type 2 diabetes is especially insidious, because it is nearly entirely preventable. The web of added physical extensions make it all worse, and while some are reversible, other are not. ( I have Ty-2 and only myself to blame. Excess carbs, weight gain, and sticking my head in the sand.)
But, even at the level of complications you describe, you can make your life better and clean up a lot of the discomfort. First, take the meds your physician prescribes (semaglutide, glyburide, metformin). Second, get yourself emotional help from a dietician with a strong psychiatry background (or a psychiatrist specializing in substance abuse, i.e., food). Third, force yourself into positive thinking and situations - if you don't enjoy silver dollars any more, try other aspects of the hobby or switch to some other interest. This might include volunteering your time in a community activity, tutoring school kids, or organizing activities for others (and yourself). Fill your days with things other than your own discomfort, while sticking to a schedule and routine. Add physical activity as best you can - walk a little each day, then a little more, and a little more.
I realize you might have tried all of these before --- so, try again! Do not admit failure, or give in to defeat.
(My experience - Yes. Lost 120 lbs with more to go. Got rid of the emotional baggage, including a nasty wife. Take my meds, etc. A1C is about 5.7 to 6.2 but will settle back to normal when I can get the remaining weight off. It's a daily battle, but each small victory is a good feeling.)
I'm putting this in the open because you are not alone. Many others share your situation. Talk, listen and learn from others -- much as you did in collecting VAMs; only this is more important!

Re: So Boring/So Long
To Uncle Bingo; Thanks bunches for providing heritage auction links
for my upcoming Sept 5th auction. 1st time i saw it &
wouldnt know how to link up to here.
Boy, Heritage does a killer job IMHO, perfect for a
tech dinosaur like myself. I have been ridiculed for yrs
for not posting pic's, but figured it useless if i didnt post
descent pic's etc. I am so happy that i can rely on
someome else, professional to help sell my coins
