Nice pick! Did you find that unattributed in the wild?
I swear, someday I will learn how to grade Peace Dollars!

I have been looking for one of the big breaks for years and never found one. The only ones I have ever seen in the wild were decades ago before I ever heard the word VAM and I passed over them because at the time, the coins had no "eye appeal" to my then untrained mind. I assume this came off of eBay. Great job seeing that and grabbing it! I would say that it probably won't go 64. I would say best would be 63, but I stink at grading Peace Dollars,

Yessir, and purchased it 24 minutes after it was listed. Didn't think twice about taking the risk...
I've honestly never sent one single peace dollar in for grading in my life... So i have no idea what to expect or where the weight lies outside of my book picture maps...
To be 100% honest, if it doesn't go 64/+ i will be slightly heartbroken lol...

It's coming...

The coin looks Nice and a EDS to boot. There is not much premium for the EDS, but fun to collect the die states from EDS to LDS. From my point of view on the grade a lot of nicks on the obverse and reverse with some chatter 62 at best. Am sure others will chime in.

Have to be careful on eBay. I have noticed some pictures of Peace Dollars that looked manipulated to appear to be major die break varieties. I almost pulled the trigger looking at the pics on a small screen (phone), but then double-checked on my desktop and saw that they were "phantoms" with odd pixilization.

I have taken some risks, but usually it is very small. My risk limit is $10 over melt.

Cool! I just asked about this one a few weeks ago. Oct 21 Earring- Dark side posting. The LDS is much tougher.
I'd give yours MS63. Nice pick!

I've legit seen postings with pictures that people "smudge" in areas of the photo. Seller will have pictures clearer than my close-ups... But will have a random blur over a key area...
But then there are shady dealers everywhere if you look for them i guess...

If on ebay send the coin back! They pay shipping both ways if they didn't alert to damage.

it's always worked out so far. Thankfully...

If you find an LDS in ANY grade, buy it!! I believe this is a highly underrated VAM and will be worth a large premium
in the future (IMO).

My book was wrong last time so lemme ask you guys before i assume anything lol...
I was under the assumption an EDS was the 4 cracks/dots in the hair... and that once the crack fully formed it was MDS... and that when the bubble started it became LDS?
I'm starting to think at even a coupe of years old that this pickers guide and the info in it are sliiiiiightly out of date lol..

I think I'd go 62 on this, but it is because the obv is the better side. I think this coin must go through regular service to get the grade, as they would likely not grade it in a MS61+ bulk grading. It is an Early Die Stage, not quite to the MDS point. It will be a close call as to whether they will give it the "normal" Earring attribution. They may call it a minor variety at PCGS. Just have to try though.

Mr. ash,
Thank you for the awesome breakdown boss. I'm not a huge fan of re-subbing coins, but if this one didn't get an Earring label the first time, it would be cracked out and in the return mail the same day lol...
...or headed to NGC lol..

Nice pick-up! Low uncirculated grade for me. Hard to pin down a grade from the pictures.

Thank you MD,
Would you believe my cell camera set-up can focus close enough to see the layers in a star on a Morgan...
...but as soon as you actually try to use it to take a normal picture... Well you see up there... Lol.
Seems the consensus with terrible pictures is somewhere around 62-63... I'll update what it graded out as in a few months when it gets back.

It's coming...
