One more try. Since we only see the obverse, and the coin looks to be a near date, I see this as 1897P and a VAM 13. I need the practice as I am still learning to match. On most of my VAMS which are not obvious, I spend an hour or 3 on most of them.

Thankyou!
@blaircountycoin I really appreciate you taking the time to help me! I don't think the date position index is a match. On mine it's LE3RH4 and on the 13 it's B23C4 I think. I'm still learning the Date Placement Index System. I do like you do, I spend at least 1 to 3 hours on each, or more when I am stumped, but it's fun to me! My wife is like

go outside! haha

@SilverToken I saw those from the 1985 100 yr anniversary! I wondered the same thing! I wonder how many jingles/slogans people sent in were actually used for Dr Pepper as well since it seemed to be a contest for that. Kinda cool to think that Morgans "might" have had a place in that!

The closest one I can find is 1897S Vam 4 or 14. Not exact and no spike on the 1 but I think it's some stage of the obverse of those two. The markers are very close but not exact. So maybe polished again after or before? What do you all think?

I'm gonna say no spike means wrong obverse , or at least wrong die state ...But I have also decided I don't know anything

Cotton gouges appear off, date seems lower on 4 & 14, but that may be refracting through lucite.
I'm gonna kindly say it doesn't match. Sometimes I set it down for a week and let my Eyes and brain focus again.
Are rims different between mints? I'm noticing that edge by luck and if they are that would at least narrow the madness!

Thanks!
@UNCLE BINGO and
@SilverToken . Thats the closest I could find, almost exact in parts but not exact

So I was thinking maybe part of the 4 or 14 family like a distant cousin!
I am not sure about the rim, I will check into that next! Thanks for looking again! I appreciate it!
