Post by colwillys » Sun May 14, 2023 12:59 pm

1935-P VAM 1B1 has middle olive branch clash the VAM 1H does not have this clash . Is this a stage difference . ?

Pretty certain that's a die scratch rather than a clash. If you have examples with and without this scratch (the former 1H) it's probably worth reaching out to @davidkclose to see if he feels the VAM 1B progression should be revised. The current listing makes no mention of an EDS without the scratch.

That's funny you bring this up Tom, just this morning a freind of mine sent me a couple pictures of a 1935 he wanted some help with. Turns out it's a 1B2. Here are his photos. Hope this helps.....

All stages of VAM 1B reverse have a horizontal die gouge from tip of leaf 5 (going from top left clockwise) into the field. This is a die gouge, not a clash mark.

This is what i am saying the 1935-P VAM 1H DOES NOT HAVE THE GOUGE AT LEAF 5 , VAM 1H was killed and grouped
with VAM 1B1 . Dr. Close do we need to rethink this VAM ?
